Support the students of the Valley View Elementary and Intermediate Schools.

*Scholastic Book Fair Volunteers Needed!* 

Volunteers are needed for the Spring Book Fair in the Elementary & Intermediate Schools.
The Book Fair will be available to parents during conferences at these times:

Elementary School:
Monday, November 6 – 9am-12pm;  1-3pm;  6-8pm
Tuesday, November 7 – 9am-12pm;  1-3pm

Elementary chairperson:  Kathy Micek

Intermediate School:
Monday, November 6 – 9am-12pm;  1-3pm;  6-8pm
Tuesday, November 7 – 9am-12pm;  1-3pm

Intermediate chairperson:  Melissa Sylvester

 

What is a Scholastic Book Fair?
It’s an awesome opportunity to buy books and support your child’s school too. While fundraising is a definite benefit to holding a Book Fair, so is uniting kids with literature and bringing the community together in honor of that mission. Fairs also provide you with the opportunity to engage in reading with your kids and tune in to their passions.  A wide range of titles for every level and interest. Favorite series and authors will get kids excited about reading.

Parents will be able to shop during conferences.  Each class will have an opportunity to visit the Book Fair during the school day if you would like to send money in with them.  Look for book forms in your child’s folder.

VENDORS WANTED!
We are looking for a variety of vendors/crafters to purchase a space.  
This event will be run in conjunction with our “Cookies with Santa”,
so we expect a good bit of foot traffic!

Cost:  Spaces will be $35.  
If electricity is needed, there will be an additional $5 charge.
We are asking that each vendor also donates
an item or basket to the Basket Raffle.
All vendors will have to bring their own table.

We will only be accepting one representative from each direct sales company.

Setup:  Saturday, December 2nd from 5pm-8pm

Read-a-thon for Education

The Valley View Elementary/Intermediate PTA is sponsoring a Read-a-thon for Education to encourage reading and to fund our student field trips, assemblies, programs, Play Days, gifts, and celebrations throughout the year for ALL students in grades K-5.

Students are encouraged to participate in our Read-a-thon by reading as much as they can from Monday, November 6th through Tuesday, November 28th.

Attached to this packet, you will find 3 WEEKLY Reading Logs, a Pledge Form, and a PRIZE SCALE information sheet for top readers, top earners & class participation.

ALL Students are encouraged to participate, HERE’S HOW:

  1. Reading Log: Students will indicate their pages read per day during the days of the week that is indicated at the top of each log. **Parents must initial each entry in the log**
    1. Students should turn in their weekly logs to their homeroom teachers on each of the following dates. Teachers will raffle off a small prize for the weekly logs turned into their homeroom on these dates:  Monday, November 13th;  Monday, November 20th;  Tuesday, November 28th
  2. Pledge Forms: Students will collect pledges per page and/or flat donations for the length of the entire Read-a-thon. Pledge Forms and money are due on Tuesday, November 28th to be considered for earning prizes.

CHECK PAYMENTS
Please include ONE check made out to Valley View Elementary PTA for the total amount collected along with your Sponsor Form, included in this packet.

ONLINE PAYMENTS

Please be sure to include the Student's Name, Grade & Homeroom Teacher in the "Special Instructions" on the donation form.
